Scrubs' coming revival has the chance to bring one of JD’s final fantasies to life, meaning a 15-year-old scene could finally be realized when the sitcom comes back. The showrunner has already promised he’s “Definitely going to” bring backScrubs, and has been very vocal on the subject for a few years. With the failure ofScrubsseason 9 leading to its cancelation in 2010, the show’s comeback has some redeeming to do, and a big part of that could be addressing a key moment from the penultimate run’s finale.
TheScrubsrevival hasn’t yet been officially greenlit, but showrunner Bill Lawrence remains resolute in his intention to bring the medical sitcom back to TV screens. When he finally follows through on his plan, the show will have been off the air for at least 15 years. While this leaves a lot of ground to cover regarding what all the characters have been up to during this time, theScrubsrevival’s time jump also opens the door for a heartwarming possibility.

The Doctors in Scrubs aren’t all equal, but their varying skill sets can place the characters in ranking order of how effective they are at their job.
JD’s Son & Turk’s Daughter Dating In The Scrubs Revival Would Pay Off A Season 8 Tease
Sam Dorian & Isabella Turk are shown announcing their engagement in “My Finale”
Scrubsseason 8’s two-part conclusion, “My Finale,” was the end of the sitcom in its known form. When Zach Braff’s John “JD” Dorian leaves Sacred Heart Hospital for the last time, his farewell fantasy is an emotional compilation of what he hopes his future brings. During this heartfelt montage,JD sees his son Sam all grown up and engaged to Turk’s daughter, Izzy. Because so much time will have passed since this moment originally aired and wheneverScrubscomes back, it’s very possible this romantic pairing could be in its early stages.
They may not be engaged as in JD’s fantasy sequence, but if Sam and Izzy are at least dating, then the groundwork is laid for the dream of Braff’s character to become reality.

Sam and Izzy will both be at least 15 years old in theScrubsrevival, but could even be closer to 16 or 17. They may not be engaged as in JD’s fantasy sequence, but if Sam and Izzy are at least dating, then the groundwork is laid for the dream of Braff’s character to become reality. Of course, the sweet scene from “My Finale” isn’t a glimpse into the future, so it’s possible Sam and Izzy may not be dating in theScrubsrevival. On the other hand, there’s some evidence to suggest they might eventually end up together.
The final scene ofScrubsseason 8 is soundtracked by Peter Gabriel’s “Book of Love.”

Most Of JD’s “My Finale” Montage Was Confirmed To Have Happened In Scrubs Season 9
JD is married to Elliot with a baby on the way in the final season of Scrubs
Sam and Izzy’s engagement is one of the few unrealized events from JD’s “My Finale” fantasymontage. His other hopes were to marry Elliot and have a child together. When the sitcom returned for its ninth season, titledScrubs: Med School, JD is indeed married to Sarah Chalke’s character, and she is carrying his second child. As Elliot isn’t Sam’s mother, this unseen baby is the first they’ve had together.
Scrubs' Revival Must Overcome 1 Behind-The-Scenes Problem That Hurt Season 9
Showrunner Bill Lawrence’s promise of a Scrubs comeback needs to navigate a problem that’s arisen since the sitcom’s original ended in 2010.
WhileJD’s fantasy in “My Finale” also shows him having Christmas with the Turks, Dr. Cox, Jordan, and all the kids, this isn’t a completely unbelievable eventuality. It feels much more like a preview of JD’s immediate future, especially in retrospect, due to Elliot’s pregnancy reveal inScrubsseason 9. The scene of Sam and Izzy’s engagement announcement seems like a dream within a dream for JD, but there’s no reason whyScrubsseason 10 couldn’t bring it into the real world.
