The visions of Timothy Ratliff dying inThe White Lotusseason 3, episode 6 are linked to his storyline thus far and could hint at what is to come in the future. Of all the members ofThe White Lotusseason 3’s cast, Timothy has had the most stressful time of things. Although episode 6 does ramp up some of the tension between Laurie and Jaclyn after the latter slept with Valentin and explores some of the fallout ofThe White Lotus' incest storyline, Timothy’s week keeps going from bad to worse.

Timothy’s vacation inThe White Lotusseason 3continues to be upended, if not for his crimes as a blackmailer and embezzler coming to light then for the mental toll this is taking on him.Timothy’s near-suicide inThe White Lotusseason 3, episode 5proved this beyond all doubt, with episode 6 focusing on his state of mind after being in such a dark place. While there seems to be some form of clarity for Tim,The White Lotusseason 3, episode 6 only further pushes him down a woeful path with visions of impending death.

Why Tim Has A Vision Of Killing Himself At The Beginning Of Season 3, Episode 6

The Trauma Of Episode 5 Lingers

Firstly, Tim envisions himself lying dead after shooting himself in the head, only to be found by a grief-stricken Piper and Victoria. The scene is incredibly disturbing and features some brutally real performances from Parker Posey and Sarah Catherine Hook, but the question of why Tim imagined this remains. The reason links to his attempted suicide at the end ofThe White Lotusseason 3, episode 5. If Victoria had not interrupted Tim, he would have been seconds away from making his vision a reality.

Of course, it goes without saying that Tim is in an incredibly dark place mentally, enough to attempt to take his own life. Just because he was interrupted does not mean that these feelings will go away. Naturally, such a traumatic head space and the knowledge that he attempted suicide will stick with Tim, explaining why he imagined doing soat the beginning ofThe White Lotusseason 3, episode 6. The involvement of Piper and Victoria also shows how Tim is thinking of things that were not highlighted last episode, such as how his actions would have affected his family.

Why Tim Later Has A Vision Of Killing Victoria

This Was Born Of Victoria’s Comments About Her Comfortable Life

Later inThe White Lotusseason 3, episode 6, Tim has another vision involving death. This time, he imagines himself using the gun he stole inThe White Lotusseason 3, episode 4’s endingto shoot Victoria while she sleeps. Tim apologizes and says he loves Victoria as he does so, before pointing the gun at his own head and pulling the trigger. Saxon arrives at the villa and shakes Tim out of his imagination, with this vision linking to a conversation he and Victoria have earlier in the episode and tied to the crimes he has committed.

What Crime Jason Isaacs' Timothy Ratliff & Kenny Committed In The White Lotus Season 3 Explained

Timothy Ratliff in The White Lotus season 3 is facing an impending legal issue based on a shady fund he helped set up with an old business associate.

Victoria mentions that Piper will not want to live in Thailand without the comforts of her family’s money. Victoria then goes on to say that if she had to live an"uncomfortable life"herself she would rather not live at all. Timothy is visibly unsettled by this due to the very real possibility that his family will lose their fortune because of his actions with Kenny Nguyen. Herein lies the symbolism of Timothy’s second vision.

Jason Isaac’s Timothy from The White Lotus season 3

In a way, Timothy shooting Victoria alongside himself is a form of mercy in his mind. Tim is struggling to cope with the reality that his actions will have ramifications on his family, and the first vision of his suicide was a way of escaping from those consequences.Upon hearing that Victoria would hate to live without wealth, Timothy’s mind adds her to the dark scenario as a way of him “sparing” herfrom the life she will have to live if he is found guilty.

Tim’s Talk With The Monk Adds To His Thoughts Of Death

Timothy Is Learning To Come To Terms With His Dark Thoughts

To further develop the concept of Timothy thinking about death inThe White Lotusseason 3, the episode has him talk to the monk Piper wishes to live with in Thailand. Timothy does ask about Piper, before asking the monk what happens after humans die. The monk tells Tim that every birth is a water droplet that shoots out from the vast ocean beneath. As people age, the droplet reaches its peak and begins falling back to the ocean, with death reuniting a person with the wider consciousness of the universe.

The monk tells Timothy that this renders death a happy reunion, almost like someone is being welcomed back home. This talk affects Tim greatly and could even indicate that he is trying to justify either his suicide or the second vision involving a murder-suicide. As alluded to, Tim is struggling to accept his life going the way it is and is potentially beginning to see death as either an escape or, indeed, a happy return.

Is Tim Actually Going To Die In The White Lotus Season 3?

All of these visions and words of death beg the question of whether Timothy is actually going to die.The White Lotusseason 3’s victimwas teased in the opening of episode 1, with the theft of Gaitok’s gun and the attempted suicide leading many to believe Tim would be the person to face an untimely end. However, the show has been very open about Timothy’s experiences with death, especially afterThe White Lotusseason 3, episode 6, potentially hinting that he will indeed be the victim of this story.

I’ve Changed My Mind About The White Lotus Season 3’s Death: I’m Now Convinced It WON’T Be Jason Isaacs' Tim

The climactic death in The White Lotus season 3 remains a mystery, but I am at least convinced that it will not be Jason Isaacs’ Timothy Ratliff.

Despite this, I still think it would be too obvious for Tim to be the victim ofThe White Lotusseason 3. Of course, more than one character could die and Tim’s could come at a different point than the season’s cold open, but I doubt the writing would make it so obvious that Tim is opening himself up to death if he was truly going to die. The visions could indicate that Tim’s mind is dwelling on these possibilities, but never once doesThe White Lotuspaint them as glorified or the right thing to do. For that reason, I think Tim will live past the season’s conclusion.
