VALUE
This category was not the first one I solved today, mainly because I was still trying to decide if RELISH belonged with GRAVY and, in a couple of other words, to be in a toppings category. However, after deciding on the following category and realizing that DIP was out of the equation, I looked around for what else could go together.RELISH and SAVOR seemed like a possible combination, and soon enough, I could add in TREASURE and VALUE. Some of these words can be both nouns and verbs, but luckily this one was okay.
SPLASH
SWIM
This was the first category I solved today, mainly due to the SPLASH and SWIM combination. After noticing that, I thought DIVE was another possibility and the last word I added was DIP. I do not really consider a dip a “jump” into the pool, but I suppose it can be used for this puzzle. Thisdid change my thoughts concerning the rest of the puzzleand a fair number of words, so solving this early definitely prevented a potential disaster.

FROSTING
GRAVY
This was the last category I ended up solving today, mainly due to how the words lined up. As I came to this one last, I no longer had to guess, but before, I had GRAVY and FROSTING together, butnot because it meant something extra. I also had SAUCE and RELISH with them at one point, but when that guess was wrong, and it was not even one word away, I knew I was on the wrong track. This led me to figure out the remaining category before I came back to this one.
NERVE
SAUCE
BRASS, CHEEK, and NERVE made me think this was a potential category, but finding the last word for it was difficult. This was mainly because I hadn’t given up on SAUCE, which means an actual food item, but after I saw that it didn’t belong in that category, I had to figure something else out. Mainly, it ended up here becausenone of the other words seemed to go with CHEEK or NERVE,and I thought this one might be closest. Fortunately, I was right this time.
