I will say that one of the categories is a little tricky, andthere are a group of words that you would think go together, but in truth, they do not. NYT Mini Crossword: 8 Strategies To Solve It Fast

LEMON

MUSTARD

CANARY and GOLD are both a little bit of a red herring here, mainly due to the presence of MINE and COAL. All four of these words are something that I would typically group together, but luckily, I was able to get away from this because I solved the green category first, which changed the trajectory of my puzzle today. I didn’t really want CANARY to end up as a color shade, as I preferred the MINI connection, but it still works out well enough.

STORE

WELL

As I said, I solved this one first, which I think was quite lucky and kept me away from the hardest part of the puzzle.Understanding the STORE can mean the same thing as MINE is not as straightforward as it could be, but I just managed to recognize it. Admittedly, it was because I didn’t see any other word that could mean the same thing, and I wasn’t sure that it was going to be correct, but I was able to do this without too much trouble.

8 NYT Tiles Strategies To Score Huge Combos

The Tiles game for the New York Times mobile app asks you to use various strategies to pair matching visual patterns together to build huge combos.

GRINCH

NAUGHTY

I was a little confused about this one, and it was very out of season, but I was able to recognize what was going on.I saw GRINCH from the beginning, and I thought it might go with NAUGHTY, but I didn’t realize that it would be this Christmas-themed until much later. In the end, I thought it might be words that have to do with bad behavior, but it is funny that two of these words are actually associated with two people who understood the spirit of Christmas more than anything at the end of their stories.

MAYO

SOY

I like that it is all Spanish words, but the fact that ELLA looked like a name did throw me off. I have taken enough Spanish andfar more than enough other Romance languagesto know what the pronoun is, but it’s not something I would have thought of right away. I do now recognize most of the words in the category. However, I am not sure what MAYO means in Spanish right this second, but it makes sense, and I do recognize the structure of the word.
