It will mar the third installment of theTronfranchise after the original film was released back in 1982, which starred Jeff Bridges. With a phenomenal cast and promising early-look footage,Tron: Aresalready looks to be one of the best movies of 2025.

Daft Punk, the renowned French electronic duo who has made classic hits such as “One More Time”, “Get Lucky”, “Instant Crush”, and “Harder Better Faster Stronger”, will not be doing the score ofTron: Ares. This has been known for quite a while as Daft Punk has already made it clear that they were not interested in returning to theTronfranchise after providing the musical score forTron: Legacy, which was arguably the greatest thing to come out of that entire production. Daft Punk’sTron: Legacysoundtrack in 2010 was their first album since 2005’sHuman After All.
While Daft Punk has made one additional album since Tron: Legacy, their celebrated 2013 albumRandom Access Memories, they have not released new music since. They even recently declined to perform at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, where several other French native musical acts performed such as Phoenix and Gojira. Instead of Daft Punk, Nine Inch Nails announced their reunion for theTron: Aressoundtrack. Nine Inch Nails started back in 1988, gained prominence throughout the 1990s and the 2000s, and hasn’t performed together since a brief tour in 2022.

Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross Have Become Excellent Composers For Movies
The Oscar-winning composers did music on The Social Network, Gone Girl, & more
Trent Reznor, who is the frontman and mastermind behind Nien Inch Nails, emerged as a composer with Atticus Ross on David Fincher’s legendary filmThe Social Network. This inspired a slew of collaborations between Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and David Fincher, which led to them scoring Fincher’sThe Girl with the Dragon TattooandGone Girl. Reznor and Ross won the Academy Award for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score for their work onThe Social Network, which cemented their creative partnership and their prestige as movie composers ever since.
Reznor and Ross have also composed the original musical score for the HBO limited seriesWatchmen, which earned them an Emmy for Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited Series, Movie or Special. They have also created the musical scores forBefore The Flood,Patriots Day,Mid90s,Bird Box,Waves,Mank, andSoul, which earned them a second Academy Award. Nine Inch Nails Can Reinvent The Sound Of Tron: Ares
Just like how Daft Punk put their unique and celebrated style onTron: Legacy, Nine Inch Nails can now put their stamp onTron: Ares. It’s clearly one of the biggest selling points of the upcoming movie considering the big announcement reveal made at D23 2024. With Nine Inch Nails involved, rather than just the traditional collaboration between Reznor and Ross, there is the potential and expectation for new music from the band to be featured exclusively in the upcomingTronmovie, which hasn’t happened since 2020. Nine Inch Nails, known for their classic hits like “Closer”, “The Hand That Feeds”, and “Head Like a Hole”, has a fitting dystopian feel that will be perfect forTron: Ares.
