In the newUntil Dawn Remake, players must makelife-or-death choicesas a cast of characters tries to survive until the morning while isolated on a mountain. During each chapter, characters will split off from one another to try to explore and survive, and decisions made early oncan impact later portions of the game.

One such choice is made by Mike, who explores theBlackwood Sanatoriumwhile trying to find and save his girlfriend, Jessica. While doing so, he observes a stranger with two wolf companions, and accidentally comes face to face with one. Here is how to make the correct choices tobefriend the wolf, which can be useful in later chapters.

Making A Good First Impression

Shortly after entering the Sanatorium inChapter Five, Mike is initially ambushed by both of the stranger’s wolves and has to flee, narrowly closing a door behind him before he’s attacked. A bit later, Mike will meetjust one wolfwho will surprise him after entering the chapel. Unfortunately, the wolf (dubbed “Wolfie” by Mike) will seem unhappy, and will snap and snarl at Mike.

You will be given the option to kick Wolfie. However,exercise an important lesson from the gameandchoose to take no action. Once the timer runs out, Wolfie willnot attack, and instead allow you toapproach and pet him. Once Mike pets Wolfie, he will now be considered friendly. However, if youaccidentally kicked Wolfiein a panic, don’t worry. You canmake amends.

Salvaging Your Relationship

How To Repair A Friendship

If youkicked Wolfiebut want to befriend him instead, you’ll need to take the extra step torepair your relationshipby bringing him a peace offering. If you don’t, Wolfiewill bite Mikeif he tries to pet him, and won’t appear later on in the game.

On the other side of the chapel is abox containing bones, potentially of dubious origin. Regardless,take one of the bonesand bring it back to Wolfie. If you offer him a bone,he’ll forgive you for kicking him, and he can now be pet without repercussions.

Even if youdid not kick Wolfie,you can still bring him a bone, if you want to. He’ll gladly take it either way!

Once Wolfie has been pet, regardless of how you reached that stage, he will now appearin a later chapter. Depending on your actions, you’ll be able toreceive help from Wolfie, or potentiallysave himin kind.

An Unlikely Helper

Saved By Wolfie, But For A Sacrifice

InChapter Nine, Mike returns to the Sanatorium, where he willreunite with Wolfie. If Wolfiewas kickedand the relationship was not repaired, he will unfortunatelyflee and not be seen again. If you befriended him, he will come up to Mike to receive pets and follow him through the building.

There areseveral quick-time events(QTEs) that occur when Mike is fleeing from the Wendigos. If you fail certain events,Wolfie will jump in to protect Mike, which will unfortunately result in Wolfie’s death.Be very carefulto succeed at these QTEs in order to give Wolfie a chance to survive. Careful Quick-Time Event Choices

The first possible Wolfie deathoccurs whileMike sneaks through the Sanatoriumpast one of the Wendigos. Like other tense moments, you’ll need to holdperfectly stillwhile the Don’t Move indicator is on the screen. You’ll also need to pass a QTE tocatch a rolling bottlebefore it falls, so be ready! If you fail to sneak past,Wolfie will jump into give you time to escape, which results in his death.

The second possible Wolfie death happens when you need to shoot arolling explosive barrelbetween two Wendigos. The prompt to roll the barrel is avery quick QTE that is easy to miss. If youdon’t roll the barrel, or choose not to shoot the barrel, you instead have to choosewhich Wendigo to shoot. Unfortunately, Wolfie will have todistract the other oneto save Mike, and will be killed in the process.

How To Save Wolfie

At the end of the Sanatorium, Mike will have to flee andclose another doorbehind him to block a Wendigo.PS5Trophies’s video shows exactly which door this is, as there areseveral doorsthat Mike has the option to lock or block during his escape.

Mike is given the option to do nothing, flee, or barricade the door. Youmust choose to barricade the doorto save Wolfie. If you don’t, when Mike jumps down a hole to escape, Wolfie will beattacked and killedby the pursuing Wendigo. Otherwise, Mike will say goodbye, and Wolfie willgo on his way.

Even though you won’t see Wolfie again, he will manage toescape the Sanatoriumand survive. After Mike blows up the Sanatorium, you should receive theUntil Dawn Remakeachievement, “The Skillful Wolf Man.”
