Besides the large variety of options to choose from, the title also allows players to design their own clothes.

Dreamlight Valley Starts Out With Many Customization Options
Customizing clothing and furniture inDreamlight Valleyis easy, as it’s literally the first option displayed in the inventory. To get to the Touch of Magic menu for clothes, players must open the inventory, go to the “Wardrobe” or “Furniture,” then choose “Customize.“Clicking “Add New” will reveal all the different options that are available to customize.
There are 18 articles of clothes that can be customized right off the bat, and they all start as blank white templates. The customizable articles of clothing are:

Touch of Magic items inDisney Dreamlight Valleystart out like blank white canvases, and players can change their color from a menu. Beyond the color options,designs in the game rely on sticker-like decals called “Motifs"that players can put on whatever they’re customizing.

There is no way to free-hand drawings in ToM, so the meat of the designing process depends on the use of motifs. When players first start designing,they have access to 90 motifs by default.These range across different categories and franchises, and include themes like animals, shapes, nature, food, villains, magic, and so on. More motifs can be unlocked by opening yellow loot bags, completing certain quests, or byearning them as rewards from Star Paths.
Every custom design can have up to 50 layers, and each layer holds a motif.Once a sticker is added to a design, whether it’s an outfit ora piece of furniture, it can be modified. Players can make the decals larger or smaller, rotate them, add a mirror image of them, duplicate them into a repeating pattern, and more. Since each sticker is on a separate layer, it’s very easy to modify and delete single stickers at a time.

The Limitations Of Touch Of Magic In Dreamlight Valley
Touch Of Magic Can’t Always Be Used
As versatile and fun as they are, the Touch of Magic designs have their limits. One of these limits, mentioned earlier, is the inability to free-hand designs (though this is likely done to keep things family-friendly and prevent shenanigans). Another other major limitation isnot being allowed to use ToM magic items in Dreamsnaps, which are weekly photo competitions. This helps everyone be on an even playing field when they’re competing. Even having an item in the background that’s been modified with Touch of Magic will prevent the dream snap from submitting.
Even though they do have their limits, Touch of Magic items inDisney Dreamlight Valleyare a great way to customize the experience even further. Players are welcomed and allowed to use their creativity to really express themselves thanks to the customization options.
