The “One Power” isThe Wheel of Time’s version of magic, and its use is pretty controversial; only women can safely channel, but even they are hated by the dreadedWhitecloaks. The Whitecloaks consider the One Power to be a weapon of the Dark One, meaning they believe all who use it are his pawns - even theAes Sedai. They will not suffer a witch to live.

This gives a real sense of urgency to the Aes Sedai quest to discover new girls who can channel. If they don’t find them before the Whitecloaks, then those girls will be killed. Bode Cauthon Discovers She Can Channel In The Shadow Rising

Bodewhin “Bode” Cauthon is Mat’s little sister, and he’s always tried to look after her. His best efforts fail after he left the Two Rivers, though, because - as seen in Robert Jordan’sThe Shadow Rising- she falls prey to the Whitecloaks. They’re actually looking for Perrin, but they learn he’s sworn to protect Mat’s family on his friend’s behalf, and so target them. A moment of emotion leads to the One Power being unleashed, just as inThe Wheel of Time.

Wheel Of Time Has Set Up Mat’s Sister To Join The White Tower

We’re clearly following the plot of Jordan’s books pretty faithfully. There, Bode ultimately played a key role in helping protect the Two Rivers from another Trolloc attack, and she is taken to be trained as an Aes Sedai. Bode is among one of the more interesting characters, one of the Two Rivers clan who refuses to believe Rand is theDragon Reborn- andshe’s terrified when Rand demonstrates his power by levitating her. She then becomes a key figure among the Aes Sedai novices.

How Strong Bode Cauthon Is In The Wheel Of Time

Bode has the potential to become one of the most powerful Aes Sedai; in Jordan’s novels, she’s almost as powerful as Egwene. She is ultimately found to have a specific Talent allowing her to create a vitally important substance called Cuendillar, which proves vital in the buildup to the Last Battle. The Bode plot inThe Wheel of Timesuggests we’re going to see that arc reproduced pretty faithfully.
