Invincible’s battle against Conquest, the villainous Viltrumite in question, took up the majority of season 3’s finale. Mark, Oliver, and Eve struggled to overcome this enemy, with the former eventually finding the strength and rage needed to defeat him. WithInvincible’s cast of characterssignificantly reduced, thanks to the high death toll of season 3’s events, Mark was left with no choice but to kill Conquest. Mark Promising To Kill More Enemies Makes Invincible Season 4 More Violent (& Exciting)
What Is In Store For Invincible Season 4?
The promise from Mark comes at the very end ofInvincibleseason 3, episode 8. Mark is shown talking to his injured, albeit recovering, younger brother, insisting that the latter was right earlier in the season. Although killing anyone dispassionately like the Viltrumites do is wrong, Mark seemingly comes to realize that killing his enemies to stave off more danger in the future is the right thing to do. Mark promises Oliver that if anyone else threatens him, his family, or his friends again, he will not hesitate to kill them.
This makesInvincibleseason 4 much more exciting as it will feature a much stronger version of Mark…

This sets up a much more violentstory forInvincibleseason 4, at least where the titular character is concerned. In a way, this makesInvincibleseason 4 much more exciting as it will feature a much stronger version of Mark. The only thing that has caused Mark to lose most of his fights throughout the show is his inability to let go and do what is necessary. Now that this has switched for Mark,Invincibleseason 4 will undoubtedly see him become much more powerful.
Mark’s Moral Grayness Continues Invincible Season 3’s Central Theme
Mark Is Now More Alligned With Cecil & The GDA
The main theme ofInvincibleseason 3 has been morality. More specifically, Mark’s central conflict this season has been him coming to terms with killing for the greater good, leading to his earlier clashes with Cecil, who will do whatever it takes to save the world. Mark initially disagreed with this mindset, stating that even killers like Darkwing and D.A. Sinclair should not have a chance to reform and protect the Earth due to their past as murderers.
As ofInvincibleseason 3’s ending, Mark has killed Conquest, was willing to kill Angstrom, and has vowed to kill anyone else who threatens his family. As such, the moral exploration of season 3 is only set to continue inInvincibleseason 4 and beyond.Mark is now more aligned with the mindset of Ceciland willing to do whatever it takes to protect those he loves.

In many ways, this makesInvincibleall the more exciting, as the show has always thrived in the gray area of its characters. While heroes like Spider-Man and Batman are excellent for their unwillingness to kill, Invincible has always been a more complex hero because of his struggles not to. Moreover, the show - and its source material - often keeps Mark on the right side of the moral argument by proving him to be different from the gleefully murderous Viltrumites. Now that Mark has promised to kill his enemies,Invinciblewill only continue to explore the morally gray story it is perfect at telling.
