Though the siblings' war is coming to an apex, Wes Bentley reveals there’s another character Jamie is more afraid of than Beth inYellowstoneseason 5 part B. Part A saw the Dutton siblings taking their rivalry to new heights with Beth working as the chief of staff for Kevin Costner’s John now that he’s Governor of Montana, while the latter is being steadily manipulated by Market Equities' Sarah Atwood to bring his family down.Yellowstoneseason 5 part A’s endingsaw Beth promising that the two would be going to war, while Jamie looked to hire hitmen to take out his sister and adoptive father.

During a recent interview withScreen Rantahead of the show’s final return, Wes Bentley shared some insight intoYellowstoneseason 5 part B. When asked about the impending war between the Dutton siblings, particularly how Rip will be involved,Bentley confirmed Rip is the character Jamie is the most terrified of going into the final episodes, even more so than Beth, but that their somewhat familial history may give Jamie some leeway. See what Bentley explained below:

Yellowstone Jamie Beth Rip

Yeah, I won’t say what’s coming, but I will say that I think that’s the one of the biggest things Jamie is terrified of, is, “Is Rip coming for him, more than Beth, even?” [Chuckles] It’s funny, because with Rip and Jamie, they had a history, and in season 2, particularly, we see that there’s a connection between the two of them, and you forget they kind of grew up together a little bit, in a way. So, yeah, Rip’s someone he’s scared of, but it’s also someone who he has a connection to. So, what would go down if Rip was to be the one? What would actually happen between them? It’s interesting [to think about].

What This Means For Beth & Jamie’s War In Yellowstone Season 5 Part B

Rip Could Be A Deciding Factor

Bentley’s indication that Jamie will be the most afraid of Ripheading intoYellowstoneseason 5 part Bwould make a lot of sense when considering not only his recent actions, but also those of the past. Arguably the biggest thing that would put Rip on the warpath for Jamieis his involvement in the fact that Beth can no longer have children of her own, having gotten her a hysterectomy when she came to him for help to get an abortion after Rip got her pregnant when they were teens.

Despite being a major reveal in season 3 for both the audience and John, as Beth finally confessed the source of the animosity towards her brother to her father, most ofYellowstone’s charactersare in the dark about this past event. Though Beth has been honest with Rip about her inability to have children, and also sought to pull from the trauma she endured from the abortion to comfort Monica after the car accident she was in resulted in the death of her and Kayce’s soon-to-be-born son, she has not told anyone else about Jamie’s involvement in this.

Beth’s Secret Sets Up A Major Yellowstone Season 5 Feud

Yellowstone’s Beth has long kept the reason for her hatred of brother Jamie from husband Rip, but that secret could lead to a major feud in season 5.

To Bentley’s point, Jamie and Rip have not generally had any kind of conflicts with one another, not just because they essentially grew up together, but also because the latter is generally respectful to stay out of internal Dutton family conflicts. That being said, consideringReilly also recently teased toScreen Rantthat the war between Beth and Jamie will culminate in a heated final battle,Rip may be the deciding factor going intoYellowstoneseason 5 part B’s finale. If Jamie’s efforts to kill his sister and father get back to Rip, along with learning of Beth’s hysterectomy, he may take matters into his own hands.

Our Take On Jamie Being Scared Of Rip

They May Not Be As Close As Jamie Hopes

Despite Rip largely staying on the sidelines ofJamie and Beth’s war thus far, Bentley’s comments about his character being afraid of Cole Hauser’s going intoYellowstoneseason 5 part B holds a lot of weight. There are few things in life to get Rip to explode, and Beth’s happiness is certainly one of them. Though his tenure in Texas with the cowboys will create physical space between them, should Rip learn that Jamie is genuinely trying to kill Beth, I wholeheartedly believe he will drop everything and possibly put an end to the adopted Dutton for good.

Yellowstoneseason 5 part B premieres on Paramount Network on Sunday, November 10.
