One of the most belovedPlayStationgames that’s no longer available turns 10 in 2024 andone especially talented fan wanted to give users a chance to experience it once again.P.T., or “playable teaser,” burned quickly and brightly as one of the most inventive and terrifying horror titles on the PlayStation 4, with many regarding it as the scariest game ever made. Unfortunately, due to a fallout between director Hideo Kojima and publisher Konami,P.T.is no longer accessible thanks to it being removed from the PlayStation store.
Over on Reddit, userDrJones20shared their celebration ofP.T.’s 10th Anniversary by releasinga remake created entirely in the robust game-builderDreams.

DrJones20 went out of their way to make the experience as authentic as possible, including every secret and hidden detail that launched theSilent Hillsteaser into the spotlight. Some of the screenshots accurately depict what fans can expect from theDreamsremake;while it may not look identical to the original, it’s the closest thing to a full recreation accessible on PlayStation, especially for those who already ownDreams.
What Happened To P.T.?
PlayStation Fans Will Never Forget
Designed as an interactive demo of what fans could expect fromSilent Hills,P.T.was helmed by Kojima and revered horror director Guillermo del Toro. Purposefully enigmatic and difficult to understand, the developers intended the playable teaser to take players upwards of a weak to complete thanks to several hiddenpuzzles and purposefully vague objectives. While the brief game took the video game industry by storm,Konami opted to delist it after the publisher parted ways with Kojima, cancelingSilent Hillsin the process.
The reason behind the cancelation is still largely unknown;rumors allege that Konami wasn’t satisfied with Kojima’s work onMetal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Painwhile some believe the director simply wanted to end his contract with the publisher. Whatever the case may be,P.T.was unfortunately a victim of the crossfire and fans have begged for years to see it return to the PlayStation store. Plenty of passionate developers have attempted to recreate the game in an unofficial capacity, but the result never capturesthe sheer terror of the original.

P.T. Proves Games Are Scarier When You Can’t Finish Them
The wildly-successful demo from Kojima Productions left many players craving a full game - but it may actually be better off staying incomplete.
DrJones20’sDreamsversion ofP.T.is an astonishing homage to the originalthat should provide fans with an excellent opportunity to experience the game again. With so many playerseager to return to the sinister house, one can only hope that Konami willeventually re-releaseP.T.onto thePlayStation 5. Given the current hype surrounding theSilent Hillfranchise, it seems possible but still incredibly unlikely.
