Trigger is the next S-Rank addition toZenless Zone Zero’s talented roster, with her best builds making her a powerful and flexible option. Trigger joins the roster as the third member able to perform Aftershock attacks. Similar to follow-up attacks fromHonkai: Star Rail, these allow off-field agents to attack enemies when the active agent triggers the Aftershock. This was first introduced in 1.6, starting with Soldier 0 Anby and the A-RankStun unit Pulchra.
Trigger’s kit may seem complex at first, but it is arguably the easiest of the three Aftershock units. It largely revolves around her Sniper Stance-enhanced basic attacks, which put her in a locked position to fire at enemies with charged attacks. These charged attacks build up her Purge meter, which allows her to perform Aftershocks. This is complemented by her passives, which will increase the Stun damage multiplier of enemies if she hits them with an Aftershock attack. Additionally, Aftershock Daze damage increases for every 1% Crit Rate she has over 40%, but is capped at 75%.

Best W-Engine For Trigger In ZZZ
Flexibility But At A Cost
Trigger is a weird case where almost all thebest Stun W-Engines in Zenless Zone Zeroare playable on her, but her signature, like with all characters, is the premium option.Spectral Gaze offers a 24% Critical Rate at the maximum level, which alone is a huge boon to building and managing Trigger. However, its passive abilities, which decrease enemy Defense when hit by her Aftershock attacks and increase her Impact when she is off-field, are what makes this versatile engine stick out for her.
If other S-Rank options are available,Trigger can be satisfied with Blazing Laurel, Ice-Jade Teapot, and The Restrained. However, none of these offer Critical Rate, and each one has its drawbacks. Blazing Laurel will work best when Trigger is slotted into a Fire or Ice team, but those teams already have better Stun options. Teapot will limit Triggers' damage but increase the damage the rest of her team can do. The Restrained will give Trigger solid buffs, but is a rather basic engine outside the self-buffing.

While her kit may initially sound like Trigger would only work with the best Soldier 0 Anby builds, she is as versatile a Stun unit as there is.
Surprisingly, the A-Rank options are Triggers' weakest choices between Steam Oven and Precious Fossilized Core. The former helps with Energy Regeneration (not an extremely useful stat to Trigger, especially because Trigger uses hers significantly less than other Stun agents). Meanwhile, the latter increases the Daze inflicted on higher health targets, but that is at best a niche scenario use case.

Best Drive Discs For Trigger In ZZZ
A Set In Stone Foundation
Like with most Stun units, Triggers' Drive Discs options are simple.Shockstar Disco is the best option to help her deal as much Daze as possible, along with a good boost to her Impact. This is the only set that should be used as her main four-piece. There can be routes to build her as more of a damage unit, but that will leave out huge parts of her potential, so it is ill-advised.
Zenless Zone Zero 2.X Leaks: Which Characters Are Coming In Future Updates
Though Zenless Zone Zero 2.0 is still a ways away, early leaks show promising new characters and content coming to the fast-paced Action RPG.
The spare two-piece is where you can tune Trigger to the preferred playstyle.Woodpecker Electro is the safest option for the extra Critital Rate boost. However, options like Thunder Metal, Hormone Punk, and Astral Voice can also be used to boost her Attack power. Lastly, if desired, Swing Jazz can be a solid alternative for those who want to utilize Triggers' EX Special Attack.

The stats are the trickiest part of building Trigger, as she wants to be a hybrid Stun/DPS unit. Impact is her most important stat, meaning that Disc 6 should be dedicated to this.Trigger also wants at least 60% Critical Rate, but preferably as close to 75% as possible, to maximize her damage and help boost her passive. Critical damage isn’t as important to her, but anywhere around 100% or better will make for a noticeable damage increase.

Best Teams For Trigger In ZZZ
Versatility And An Inspiring Future
While her kit may initially sound like Trigger would only work with thebest Soldier 0 Anby builds inZenless Zone Zero, she is as versatile a Stun unit as there is. Regardless, her best team will be with Soldier 0 Anby, as they synergize well in multiple respects, the most important being the Aftershock attacks. The best support to use with this pair is Astra Yao or Caesar for the Attack boosts, but A-Ranks like Nicole or Lucy can work.
Sticking with the Electric theme, Trigger also pairs well with Yanagi. These teams can be for Disorder with Burnice or DPS teams with traditional support. Trigger can also work as the last unit in the powerful Miyabi/Yanagi team, but given that team combination doesn’t focus on stunning units, that should be used as a last resort.
Trigger can also fill in as the Stun unit for teams like Ellen Joe or Evelyn if their best option isn’t available. While she may not have as much synergy with these options, Trigger is strong enough to be a reliable Stun unit with extra damage chipped in. In this regard, she may be a valuable future-proof Stun unit to have, given the flexibility and ability to serve as a second/third DPS character.
Zenless Zone Zero: Best Evelyn Build (W-Engine, Teams & Drive Discs)
Evelyn is a field-time dominant S-Rank agent for Zenless Zone Zero and when built properly can be a top Fire DPS option with flexible teams.
Overall, while expectations for Trigger were for her to be somewhat niche like Solider 0 Anby is, she has surpassed expectations. She will work best when paired with S0 Anby, but that has proven to not be her only role. There is also the potential of future Aftershock DPS units that could be better than S0 Anby that Trigger would fit perfectly for. Thus, if you are looking to complete a Solider 0 Anby team or holding out for the future of Aftershock attacks, you should look to grab Trigger and build her as described here inZenless Zone Zero.
